Ac30 with greenbacks

Postby Jo » Wed Aug 05, 2009 3:06 pm

Hey,
I'm checking a 2002 made in england vox ac30. It is loaded with two greenbacks. Do you think i should go with two blue speaker or the greenbacks are a good match for the ac30 sound?
Thanks
jon

Hey Jon,
You know the answer to that if you are asking with those details....
AC30 or AC15 and Blues are the VOX sound.... the get blues man... not that I need to tell you...
I had a AC30 with the Greenbacks and switched to some old Blues... WHEW!!!! ask TV about that!
You want to hear something that will give a King Royale a run for its money....

An AC30 with greenbacks is still a good sounding amp. More Marshall than Vox, though. A huge part of the AC30 sound is the blues. As important as the EL84 power tubes, IMO.

I just listned to a couple of old live tacks of me and my AC30TB, one with the greenbacks and one with a pair of Red Fangs. I thought the Greenies sounded much better for the soundI like (early Clapton/LP),....And then I got my KR...game over! :D
